Radio Stevie (Stephen J. Grant) is a producer, rapper, singer, songwriter, and musician. Radio Stevie debuted with the EP “Rap Queen,” in 2016. Recorded in Brazil, it was received favorably in São Paulo, including a feature in G1, a music resource run by Globo. While abroad, Radio Stevie also performed select songs with the Brazilian jazz collective Superjazz. With Superjazz, Radio Stevie performed in some of Brazil’s hottest jazz clubs such as Bossa and Jazz nos Fundos. After returning to the New York area, Radio Stevie continues to release singles and EPs independently. His feature in the track “Prejudice” with singer-songwriter JUNE (Julia Sicone), was a top 10 finalist in the International Songwriting Competition and has garnered more than 70,000 plays on Spotify.
Stevie’s appreciation for a range of musical styles makes for an interesting creative process that stretches across many genres such as electronic music, hip-hop, jazz, funk, and alternative pop. Radio Stevie does most of his demos at home, but also works out of Russell Street Recordings in Brooklyn, New York, with engineer, producer, and musician Carlos Hernández, who also plays various instruments such as drums, bass, and the occasional Omnichord on Radio Stevie records. Stevie’s debut album, “Joints” was released in July 2022. A deluxe version featuring his single “Saudade,” and his hit “Waves” with the legendary Kenny Brooks (Ratdog) on sax was released to Apple in 2024.
When Radio Stevie is not working on music he works in digital media at the Guggenheim Museum, where he directs art films and audio projects with visual artists and curators.
